Finally, after several days of carving the image, and painting it with little more than a #10 and #5 brush I have finally completed the Jenny country round. Here's the complete story...
First off and foremost, I give FULL CREDIT to the creators of Bucky O'Hare, and secondly, I must admit that nightwing1975 did the original drawing which can be found on his channel. He is simply an AMAZING artist and a pretty swell guy for allowing me to use his character as a model. Yes. I did it with HIS FULL BLESSING so don't give me any copyright notices, ya dig?
So how did this all come about? well, the last wood round carving/painting I did was my 'geisha girl', but that was nearly 10 years ago. After so long I decided it was too much of a talent to waste, so I started all over and will continue to release more when I have time. I joined deviant art and began uploading my skyline and weather photo's (and still have 500+ more to go), when I stumbled upon nightwing1975's drawing of Jenny. As you can tell by going there to his channel he is a GREAT artist in every single respect and was IMMEDIATELY impressed by his drawings.
But with so many, why did I pick Jenny? For starters she's everything a man should desire in a woman. She's smart, sweet hearted, and actually the most powerful of Bucky O'Hares team. Not to mention she's a TOTAL knockout! I mean she just has the looks and personality that any young lady should strive for. And the comic book character and cartoon characters don't portray her as a leacherous 'easy' whore which also kinda impressed me as well. So with that being said, I started chatting with nightwing1975 about me doing a more cartoony wood carving of her and with his full approval I used his as a model for my work.
I promise you ON MY SOUL I didn't simply trace the drawing. I printed nightwing1975's, did a black and white print out, pinned the drawing up on one of those balsa wood push pin thingies, and drew it all with a 0.9mm mechanical pencil. I was VERY proud to have gotten it as accurately as I did.
Once the drawing was completed I took a simple wood etching pin and began to carve the image out. And after MANY hours getting the main body done, and NEARLY an entire day carving the hair out I finally got that task done. Next I took a tube of black water color and drenched the image. I mean I literally SOAKED the image in black water color so it would sink down into the carving and the lines would be visible. Lastly, I began painting. Merely filling the image with colors. I would have added shading to make the painting look nicer, but I am still learning that. So after I got her hair done I sprayed it with some high gloss spray and hung it on the wall. This is the end result.
I am so PROUD after 10 years I haven't lost too much of my edge!
Thanks, nightwing1975, for making this possible for me!
